Year End and 2017
That time of the year again as the season draws to a close...........sooooooo
As New Years Eve falls on a Saturday, it seems sensible to end the comp on that date and start 2017 on Monday 2nd January........Any issues with that??
And on that note..........
Who is up for more joy and despair next year?? I'm in
Not planning any changes to the minor comps unless anyone has any suggestions but would like to make a change to the main Daily Competition. Any issues with this??
Daily Tipster Competition
This will run from Monday to Saturday each week, with the occassional Sunday thrown in when some of the big meetings run into Sunday.
Entrants can select however many or few selections that they want, but there is a change to the bonus's because of this.
The rules are relatively simple.
Just pick your horses and post them in the relevant thread. Don't forget to add your 'NAP' as this counts as double S/P if it wins.
Races are settled to a £10.00 stake and non-runners stakes are returned. You may back your selection each-way. This will be settled at £5.00 each way and will be settled at 1/5 odds for placed horses in all races.
Selections can be amended up until the start of the race, the THREAD post time will be the judge for any queries for late entry against the advertised racetime, not the 'OFF' time.
Each weeks winner will be entitled to select a 'NEXT BEST ('NB')' for the whole of the following week, this will be settled at S/P plus 50% if it wins. However, if the NAP wins then the NB is settled DOUBLE the S/P. A 'NAP' must be selected before a 'NB' can be selected.
In the event of a tied week, all those tied for First will be entitled to a 'NB'.
TYPO ERRORS
This applies to all comps.........Obvious typo errors will be allowed to stand. Right horse/wrong meeting, all selections listed against another meeting, mispelt names etc all count.
However, where there are horses with similar names....Bollin Judy/Bollin Frank, any of the Milan horses etc running in the same race, the horse named will be deemed as the selection. If you want to amend any typos later in the day, this must be done before the 'off' of the race....and if the meeting has started posted on the thread.
WEEK WIN BONUS
£150.00 FOR A WEEK WIN PLUS..............£10.00 FOR EACH WINNER IN THAT WEEK.
To qualify for week win prize, a minimum of 20 selections must be made OR selections made on 3 days in that week. IF MINIMUM CRITERIA IS NOT MET, NO WEEK WIN WILL BE PAID BUT £10.00 PER WINNER WILL BE AWARDED.
THE PERSON WHO FINISHED SECOND WILL BE AWARDED £5.00 PER WINNER BUT NOT THE WEEK WIN MONEY. THIS WILL ONLY APPLY WHEN ABOVE RULING KICKS IN
END OF YEAR REWARDS.
1st - £5000.00
2nd - £2500.00
3rd - £1500.00
4th - £750.00
all other entrants will receive £500.00

Re: Year End and 2017
Thanks Steve. I'm in again.
Clarification on week winners rules looks sensible and fair, thanks.
I hope Lynne will continue, (Angela, Clive and Patrick(?) too of course), though she's proved her point with me that you don';t need to know much/anything about racing to pick winners, rather it's all down to luck!!!
I think that's mainly why she signed up this year.
I'm happy to go right through to Dec 31st and restart on Monday Jan 2nd, like you suggest.

Re: Year End and 2017
Have enjoyed Lynne taking part and she has done well, as has Angela (as ever). Hoping everyone stays in. Has been a good (and frustrating) competition this year.Al Capone wrote:Thanks Steve. I'm in again.

Re: Year End and 2017
Yes, I'll continue if only to further prove my point! I can be like a dog at a bone!
Thanks for remodelling the 'week win' rules - much more sensible.
I'm a bit unclear about the NAP and NB...
"However, if the NAP wins then the NB is settled DOUBLE the S/P. A 'NAP' must be selected before a 'NB' can be selected."
I get the first sentence but does the second bit mean that a NAP must be selected at an earlier race than the NB? Sorry if I'm just being dumb.
I'm happy with the stop and start dates. I'll probably forget them but know Charles will remind me.

Re: Year End and 2017
Not sure about whether I can do too much tallying or participating next year as I am planning to be out of the country quite a lot! But that might change...its all a bit up in the air at the moment. I'd like to participate when I can...
