Which Medium Do You Use For Your Selections?
Mine: If I pick my selections before my morning paper arrives I use the Sporting Life site. But if my paper is delivered before I'm up, which it is mainly, I use the paper which is The Times.
The main tipster in the Times is pretty good and I respect his choices immensely, just don't follow them often.
I just use the racecards which are all printed unlike other 'once-broadsheets now tabloid' newspapers. Not that I read much of the paper TBH but I enjoy some of the puzzles.
My wife is retiring at Xmas and the paper is one thing that may be cut - we'll see.
The SL site's tips and analysis is fairly thorough but doesn't account IMO for the unpredictability of horses competing. Like humans they go in and out of form and the trainers skills are most remarkable in keeping their horses primed to go regularly. I like to try and predict which nags will improve or come on most when considering their races.
One thing I'm getting worse at is remembering horses past runs when I should have noted them down as 'next time outers' - a definite bit of senility creeping in there! lol.
I promised myself many times to use a tracker or notebook but am too idle basically, (too much like hard work when it's all for fun really).
Anyhows, I wonder how you folks choose your picks?

I am mostly haphazard, but I do use the racing post app, which has really concise one liners about each horse. I have noticed that my results are much improved since I started using it. This, of course, may be complete coincidence!

You should use the 'My Stable' on the Sporting Life Charles.
I generally use SL as i do my selections at night ready for early morning at work. They offer a good round-up of the race. On Saturdays, i use The Sun, again they offer a good service. Templegate is usually there or thereabouts and the summary on the main races gives you an insight into a horses chances.
I am obviously not reading these right as i cannot pick me nose at the moment.

When i was doing it, i'd use the Guardian online website.... unbelievably, they *DON'T* give the odd's, but I like that - i have to look a the form and i can click on the horses and the jockeys and the trainers and really dig down into their history and make an informed decision...
trouble is; it's too much like hard-work .... the other option I developed is a simple program when I type in the number of runners in the race and it randomly chooses a number for me ... lol -- but thats no fun...

I use attheraces and study the form. When i was at university, i spent increasingly large amounts of time doing it as i had so much free time and ended up spending way too much time looking at the racing.
