So, in the comp, that's £5 to win and £5 to place.
So as my horse was second the place bet won but the win bet lost.
So only £5 of the total bet is returned, the place bet, half of £10, and the £5 win bet is lost.
Therefore the total return is £205 not £210 as you put up yesterday.

So basically: An each-way bet is always paid out at half the original stake?
So only £5 of the total bet is returned, the place bet, half of £10, and the £5 win bet is lost.
The 'place bet' is the same as the 'win bet' correct? .. £5... "half the stake regardless" ?

Yes. An each-way bet is settled 50/50 win/place.

Not with an each-way bet, no. An each-way bet is 50% of total stake win and 50% place. (You can do two separate bets in a bookies though. ie To win only and to place only).

ahh i see the difference now... if it WINS then you take the full £10 stake BACK ... but you still only use half the stake with the odds to calculate the winnings

Steve managed 2 winners today, one of them his Nap!... and Angela managed both a NAP and a profit for a second day in a row!!
Top marks go to Charles though, who managed to pull off some both 25/1 and 12/1 winners today - to reverse his fortunes and put him firmly back in the race.
Angela leads by 20quid over Charles with an overall balance of +£60. Steve is looking at the pack approaching the horizon sitting at -£82 .. but it only takes a stumble and it's all change!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: Charles is actually in the lead with +160 overall .... I would wish Angela and Steve especially good luck, but I imagine we'll be in for another of Charle's "magical fuck-up Fridays" ... so keep up the sturdy work guys ;P

Steve managed 2 winners today, one of them his Nap!... and Angela managed both a NAP and a profit for a second day in a row!!
